About Julie Sweeney, LCSW

Julie Julie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and her Master’s degree in School Social Work at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Julie has experience being an outpatient therapist and a school social worker; assisting clients in navigating school stressors and the school system is an area of expertise for Julie. Since being at BZA Behavioral Health Julie has worked with all ages of clients, specializing in children, adolescents, and young adults. Julie also has experience leading groups and providing provider consultation. Julie takes an empathic, collaborative, and client-centered approach to empower her clients in session by incorporating psychoeducation, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness tools, EMDR therapy, and skill building techniques. She will use a variety of individualized therapeutic modalities and techniques to meet you where you are and help you excel to where you want to be in life. Julie exhibits a therapeutic personality to convey an environment of care, partnership, and self-improvement. She highlights the importance of the therapeutic relationship in being a supportive factor in the healing process. Julie specializes in helping clients move through anxiety and depression, navigate ADHD, overcome traumatic stress and experiences, cope with life transitions, and empower the development of clients’ best self. Julie demonstrates a comprehensive and wrap-around approach to aligning all systems of support in her clients’ lives.
