About Lubowa Shimonde

Lubowa Shimonde Lubowa Shimonde is a Master’s student studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Concordia University, Chicago. She earned her bachelor’s in psychology with minors in neuroscience and criminology from Eastern Illinois University. With nearly five years of experience in mental health, Lubowa has worked in various settings, from inpatient psychiatric care to community mental health counseling.

Lubowa is passionate about walking alongside her clients as they navigate a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, and trauma. Using a warm and compassionate approach, she aims to support the whole person. Her practice is rooted in person-centered, humanistic, and social justice approaches, and she integrates cognitive behavioral and postmodern interventions to best meet the unique needs of each individual. She has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families, as well as serving BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities.
