Raising a Child on the Autism Spectrum:  Insights from parents to parents

By:  Mallory Griffith and Rachel Bedard

Have you recently received an autism diagnosis for your child or loved one?  Do you suspect that they may be on the spectrum?  Do you feel alone has you navigate unknown waters?

Raising a Child on the Autism Spectrum is a heartwarming, helpful, and POSITIVE compilation of stories from parents and stepparents who have children on the Autism Spectrum.  Reflections regarding the beginning (securing a diagnosis, sharing a diagnosis), middle (the best days, the harder days, poignant moments, what parents wish they had been told, the impact of ASD on the family), and the future (“Where is your child headed in life, and how will he or she get there?”) of a journey through Autism are shared.

At the end of most of the chapters, there are additional books, websites, and resources to look into, which is extremely helpful.

This would be a GREAT book for parents and families to read, but also individuals on the Autism Spectrum (I would say adolescent and older), teachers, and clinical professionals.  Definitely check it out!
