The Awesome Autistic Guide for Trans Teens

By Yenn Purkis and Same Rose (2022)

The easy-to-read book is a guidebook for teens who are both Autistic and trans.  Although it’s “for teens,” I think it falls better on the younger end of the age spectrum (middle school/junior high school) as opposed to older (high school).  Part journal, part information, all positive and supportive.  This book explains and explores the intersection of Autism and gender diversity, and some of the awesome things and some of the more difficult aspects.  It even lists some well-known Autistic and gender-divergent people!

One thing that I liked about this book is the amount of information that it provided, which I think makes it a good/useful read for adults as well.  It gives lots of definitions (e.g., different flavors of gender) in the glossary in the back, as well as throughout the text.  At the end of the book, it also includes a great resource list with books, websites, and organizations for families to get more information and more support.

Definitely check it out!
